Coal Truck Driver Training Program

 

Consistent with West Virginia Code 17C-17A-4 the Public Service Commission of West Virginia issued M.C. General Order No. 72 entitled, “Rules and Regulations for the Transportation of Coal By Commercial Motor Vehicles” stating that coal truck drivers with less than two years commercial driving experience shall not operate a commercial motor vehicle transporting coal upon the coal resource transportation system until he or she has completed 24 hours of mandatory specialized training. Provided further the Commission will accept a Coal Truck Driver’s Certification issued by the West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety & Training in lieu of the first eight hours of the twenty-four hour training requirement.

The driver must provide a copy of the OMHST O-3 card to be credited toward eight hours of the 24 hour training requirement.
